12. What should I do when storing my engine?
Short-term storage:
- Remove debris from the engine to facilitate adequate cooling, correct engine speed, and reduce the risk of excessive heat build up.
- To avoid stale gas and carburetor problems treat fuel with Ultra-Fresh or other fuel stabilizer. Add according to manufacturers instructions.
- After adding stabilizer, run engine for 10 minutes outdoors and away from sources of ignition to allow the fuel to reach the carburetor.
- Run engine for 10 minutes after adding stabilizer to allow it to reach the carburetor.
Long-term storage:
- Remove debris from the engine to facilitate adequate cooling, correct engine speed, and reduce the risk of excessive heat build-up.
- Empty fuel tank by running engine outdoors until it stops. WARNING: NEVER leave the engine unattended when it is running, and NEVER run engine in enclosed areas.
- Lubricate cylinder bore to avoid corrosion.
